Access to Drinking Water: Akatsi College Practice School Gets New Borehole Facility.

Akatsi: ‘The Sky is My Limit,’ a Non-Governmental Organisation, has brought a sign of relief to residents, pupils, management, and staff of Akatsi College Practice School after it commissioned a mechanised borehole water storage facility for the School.

According to Ghana News Agency (GNA), the facility, championed by Mr. Amenorpe Etsey Benjamin, the Assembly Member for Anyiheme-Lower Fiato Electoral Area, would mitigate the struggle for water usage by both the entire school and some residents within the area. Mr. Amenorpe, who led a team of officials and some key actors for the project, disclosed that the school, for many years, relied on water supply from the Akatsi College of Education, which had been a serious burden on the College.

Mr. Amenorpe stated, “This water demand from the College sometimes resulted in water shortages in the school and at times, affecting some academic activities. But this will be a thing of the past.” He expressed gratitude to Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, President of the Avenor Tra
ditional Council and Paramount Chief of Avenor Traditional Area, as well as Mr. Michael Nyahe, the Project Director, and the entire team at ‘The Sky Is My Limit’ for coming to the aid of the School.

Mr. Amenorpe also expressed appreciation to the School’s P.T.A and Ultimate Cooperative Credit Union, an Akatsi-based financial institution for assisting the project by providing the needed platform to mount the system. When engaged by the GNA, the students, teachers, and some management members expressed appreciation to the donors for the timely intervention.

Mr. Michael Afawubo, Headteacher of the School, also commended the donors for their benevolence. The School has a student population of over 1,500 pupils and 32 staff.
