Addis Ababa: Addis Ababa is being developed into a leading hub for quality healthcare and medical tourism, Mayor Adanech Abebie announced.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, speaking at the graduation of medical professionals from Yekatit 12 Hospital Medical College, the Mayor emphasized that efforts are underway to establish the city as a medical tourism hub.
The Medical College has graduated 186 medical professionals in various programs today at Adwa Victory Memorial.
During the graduation ceremony, the mayor announced the efforts exerted by the city administration in a bid to fully implement a health policy focused on disease prevention and strengthened treatment capacity.
According to her, concrete measures are being carried out to make the city pollution-free, more comfortable, and healthier for its residents, and the initiatives aimed at making Addis Ababa the best city to raise children will continue to be reinforced.
‘Construction of new medical facilities is also underway to expand access to healthcare services across the city,’ the mayor emphasized.
Adanech further added that: ‘These efforts will enable Addis Ababa to provide high-quality health services, further advancing the city’s vision to become a prominent medical tourism destination’.
She also noted that collaborations with the private sector is key to enhancing medical facilities, and extensive efforts are being made to produce highly qualified health professionals.
Mayor Adanech also acknowledged the significant role played by the Medical College in training these professionals, and contributing greatly to the development of the healthcare sector in the city.
