Addis Ababa: The newly built Addis International Convention Center (AICC) is set to be inaugurated this evening. The center, which is the largest of its kind in the country, is poised to host both national and international events.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the inauguration of AICC marks a significant milestone in Ethiopia’s efforts to position itself as a leading destination for global events, conference tourism, and exhibitions. Situated on 40 hectares of prime land, the center is equipped to accommodate a wide array of events, ranging from corporate gatherings to cultural festivals, thereby enhancing the country’s hospitality and tourism sectors.
The center boasts two large halls, each capable of hosting 3,000 to 4,000 attendees, along with eight smaller meeting halls, enabling a total capacity of up to 10,000 people. With its state-of-the-art infrastructure, the AICC aims to facilitate both local and international collaboration by providing world-class facilities for major events.
Positioned to become not only the largest conference facility in Ethiopia but also one of the most expansive in East Africa, the center is expected to bolster the country’s standing in the international events and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) industry. Its modern infrastructure is complemented by a strategic location adjacent to Lemi Park, offering a serene yet accessible environment for business professionals and visitors alike.
This proximity to one of the city’s largest public spaces is anticipated to enhance the convention center’s role in boosting the city’s vibrancy and economic activity.
