AFLEX Transformative Programs Foundational for African Leadership Dev’t: Chinese Mission Head to AU


Addis Ababa: The transformative programs that the African Leadership Academy (AFLEX) has been implementing would serve as a foundation for the development leadership in Africa, Head of Mission of China to the African Union Ambassador, Hu Changchun remarked. A delegation of Chinese diplomats to the African Union led by Ambassador Hu Changchun visited African Leadership Academy on Friday.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the head of the mission also conferred with President African Leadership Academy, Zadig Abraha on areas of cooperation to transforming the academy in infrastructure, human resource development and sharing of experiences. The ambassador emphasized the importance of the programs of the academy in building effective leadership in Africa.



He expressed admiration for the commendable work being done at the academy, highlighting its impressive initiatives. The programs which the academy has been carrying out are essential and foundational for building African leadership, he underscored.



The ambassador stressed the need for strong leadership to represent Africa’s unique position on the global stage. He also reaffirmed his country’s commitment to working hand in hand with the government and people of Ethiopia to enhance cooperation and to realize the vision and aspiration of the academy.



President of AFEX Zadig Abreha on his part outlined the academy’s mission to nurture national and continental leadership to symbolize unity across the African continent. AFLEX is strategically focused on filling significant leadership gaps within civil society, academia, government, and the private sector, promoting collaboration among African leaders, he added, noting the academy seeks support and wants to work in collaboration with China in three foundational pillars –leadership development, infrastructure development, and knowledge exchange.



Zadig emphasized that the academy aspires to elevate African leadership internationally by fostering intellectual partnerships. Highlighting the need for elevating Ethio-China relations in to all-weather bilateral cooperation, Zadig said that the academy is also looking to invite Chinese professors to share their expertise and contribute to the educational landscape in Africa.



Through collaboration among African nations, the African Leadership Academy aims to create a better future for the continent, showcasing its leadership potential on the global stage and reinforcing its commitment to making a transformative impact.
