African Union Leaders Convene in Addis Ababa for Annual Assembly


Addis Ababa: The 38th African Union Assembly of Heads of State and Government began today in Addis Ababa, focusing on the theme “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent Through Reparations.” The assembly started with the presence of numerous African leaders and heads of international organizations.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the summit aims to address key political and socio-economic areas to enhance the welfare and quality of life for citizens across the African continent. Over the course of the two-day session, leaders are expected to engage in discussions about the institutional reforms of the African Union, the current state of peace and security in Africa, and the activities of the Peace and Security Council. Additionally, the summit will address the African Union’s participation at the G20.



The leaders will also review the report from the African Peer Review Forum (APR Forum), which focuses on governance issues, aiming to advance transparency and accountability within the member states.
