Addis Ababa: The upcoming regular congress of the Prosperity Party (PP), Africa’s largest political party, is drawing the attention of foreign party delegations from around the globe. This second congress of the young ruling party is generating substantial global interest, boasting a membership nearing 16 million.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, scheduled for January 31st to February 2nd, 2025, representatives and delegates from international sister parties arrived in Addis Ababa last night to participate in the eagerly awaited congress of the Prosperity Party. The political parties hail from Trkiye, Morocco, Rwanda, and Algeria.
Upon their arrival, the delegations were warmly received by high-ranking Ethiopian government officials at Bole International Airport. In a recent press briefing, Vice President of the Prosperity Party, Adem Farah, highlighted that the immense size of the party naturally commands global attention.
Farah noted that PP ranks among the world’s top ten political parties, renowned for its inclusivity, fairness, and the integration of indigenous knowledge-core tenets of the party’s ideology. The party has embarked on extensive reforms to steer Ethiopia towards becoming a symbol of prosperity in Africa.
The congress aims to evaluate and assess previous policy directions, draw lessons from past successes, and set major new initiatives to accelerate comprehensive national prosperity. Additionally, the Prosperity Party plans to deliberate on policies to enhance national interests, foster global engagements, and elevate Ethiopia’s standing on the international stage.
The congress is expected to host 1,700 PP delegates, leaders from competing parties, and representatives from 15 international sister parties.
