Mogadishu, The Head of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), Ambassador Francisco Madeira, has congratulated the government and people of the Republic of Djibouti, on the occasion of the country’s 44th Independence anniversary.
In his message, Ambassador Madeira saluted the Djibouti Armed Forces for their sacrifice and contribution towards Africa-led initiatives to restore peace and security in Somalia.
“On behalf of the leadership of AMISOM, I congratulate the government and the people of the Republic of Djibouti on your 44th Independence Anniversary. Your contribution towards building a safe, secure and prosperous Africa is deeply appreciated and we are grateful for the contributions of your soldiers towards a secure Somalia,” said Ambassador Madeira.
Djibouti is a key contributor to regional peace initiatives under the IGAD regional bloc and is one of the AMISOM Troop Contributing Countries together with Burundi, Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda.
