The Anloga District in the Volta Region has taken delivery of some machinery under the government’s ‘District Road Improvement Programme’ (DRIP) towards the rehabilitation of roads in the area.
The initiative, by the Government of Ghana, is set to empower Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) with the tools and resources to enhance road networks across the country.
Mr Seth Yormewu, the Anloga District Chief Executive revealed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the district had received six out of the seven designated equipment.
These include a backhoe, tipper truck, water buzzer, roller, and two concrete mixers except a grader that is yet to be released.
Mr Yormewu explained that over five priority roads within the district would be rehabilitated and constructed without any delay as soon as everything was ready.
He mentioned roads such as Shime area, Avume, Gavivina roads, Anloga Setsinu roads, Kome area roads, and Wededeadu roads within Anyanui as some of them.
‘The project will he
lp us to connect our communities. So as DCE, I am overwhelmed we have taken delivery of them, immediately all is set we shall commence work,’ he added.
Mr Yormewu promised that the machines would be used for the intended purposes as he touted the government for the great initiative.
Some vegetable farmers, the GNA interacted with, expressed optimism that the move would solve issues of deplorable road networks in the district that affected their economic activities.
The DRIP initiative was launched by the Government in August this year to revolutionise road infrastructure, creating a ripple effect of economic empowerment, job creation, and improved quality of life for residents across the country.
