Be Measured in Reacting to Information, NCCE Urges Public.

Nsawam: As the General elections approached, the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has urged the public to be measured in reacting to information in order to ensure peace.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr. Emmanuel Otoo, Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Director of the NCCE, made this appeal during an engagement with the Inter-party Dialogue Committee, Youth groups, and Religious bodies. The engagement aimed to sensitize participants on the importance of maintaining peace during the upcoming general elections. He highlighted the dangers of misinformation and disinformation, especially as political campaigns intensify, and stressed the importance of not creating fear and panic among the populace.

Mr. Otoo further emphasized the necessity for tolerance of diverse views and peaceful coexistence, regardless of ethnic background, aspirations, or political and religious orientations. His comments were aimed at fostering a spirit of unity and understanding among citizens as the elections near.

Reverend
Samuel K. Worlanyo, Chairman of the local Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches, echoed these sentiments by stating that all religions, whether Christianity, Islam, or traditional, have God as their central focus. He urged that differences in worship should not lead to divisions. Reverend Worlanyo also pointed out that people belong to different political parties and affiliations, and these differing ideologies should not make them adversaries. Instead, he encouraged mutual tolerance and respect.

Mr. Muhaimin Yakubu, the assistant chief Imam at Nsawam Central Mosque, also contributed to the discussion by highlighting the peaceful nature of Islam. He reminded Muslims of their obligation to uphold peace as true worshippers of Allah. Mr. Yakubu advised the youth not to be exploited by politicians to incite trouble before, during, or after the elections, reinforcing the call for a peaceful electoral process.
