Addis Ababa: Ethiopia’s Minister of Water and Energy, Engineer Habtamu Itefa, announced that the Nile River Cooperative Framework Agreement (CFA) will address existing inequalities in the utilization of Nile waters.
The Nile River Cooperative Framework Agreement (CFA), that will enable the establishment of Nile River Basin Commission, has officially entered into force as of last Sunday.
The Commission to be established as per the agreement will be responsible for managing and protecting the Nile River for the benefit of all and serving as the cornerstone of the cooperation.
The Minister of Water and Energy, Engineer Habtamu briefed the media today on the entry into force of CFA.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring equitable resource sharing among all Nile Basin countries, stating that CFA officially entered into force as of yesterday, marking a significant milestone in regional cooperation.
The agreement is expected to foster collaboration and promote sustainable water management in the region.
