China will attract more investors to Ethiopia as the two countries have kept expanding cooperation in depth and breadth of various fields, China’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Zhao Zhiyuan said.
Recall that Ethiopia and China have reached a comprehensive strategic partnership, which has been cemented on a principle of win-win and mutual cooperation.
In an exclusive interview with ENA, Ambassador Zhiyuan said during the past five years, the two countries have collaborated closely and made remarkable achievements.
In recent years, China has remained a number one source of Ethiopia’s foreign direct investment (FDI) and the country is a pioneer in China-Africa Cooperation, according to the ambassador.
According to him, all these achievements are the pillars for China-Ethiopia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and vivid demonstration of the profound friendship.
“China and Ethiopia are good brothers and sisters. Under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Abiy, our relations within the two countries are at high level. In the future, we will attract more investors from China and promote more business in Ethiopia.”
Chinese companies have undertaken many large scale projects including the Ethio-Djibouti Railways, Addis-Adama Expressway, Friendship Square, the African Union Headquarters and the CDC Headquarters among others, he pointed out.
For the Ambassador, the countries have kept expanding the depth and breadth of the cooperation in various fields such as industrial parks, manufacturing, energy, education as well as in the development of satellite, people to people exchanges, agriculture and so on.
Expressing his confidence that China recognizes that the urgent need of the Ethiopian people and government is to achieve greater prosperity, he affirmed that China is always ready to continue strengthening its cooperation with Ethiopia.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries more than 50 years ago, no matter how the international landscape changes, the China-Ethiopia friendship has remained unbreakable and grown stronger over time.
In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-Ethiopia relations, which have maintained high-level development and practical cooperation in various fields, have yielded fruitful results, Foreign Minister of China Qin Gang affirmed following his visit to Ethiopia in January, 2023.
Similarly, in his recent visit to China, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen noted that the future of the Ethio-China bilateral relationship is bright given the dependable and friendly relationship between the two countries that aspire to exploit untapped opportunities.
