Addis Ababa: The transformative state-of-the-art media complex inaugural of the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) will enable it to become the face of Ethiopia, and Africa in general, Chinese Embassy Deputy Chief Shen Qinmin said.
ENA, which the sole national wire service in the country among the pioneer news agencies in the continent, inaugurated its state-of-the-art media complex last week.
In an exclusive interview with ENA, Deputy Chief Qinmin said that ENA with its 80 plus rich experience can play a vital role in promoting Ethiopia as well as Africa.

‘I visited the studio of ENA 7 months ago but today when I come back I found a brand new; not only the building but also the equipment. I really want to congratulate ENA for the upgrading,’ he expressed his bewilderment.
ENA inaugurated last week a cutting edge media facility that encompasses three TV and four radio studios outfitted with stat
e-of-the-art editing and recording equipment vital to producing high-quality contents. The media complex also includes a number of offices, meeting rooms, a library, a recreation center and a modern gymnasium.
Chinese Embassy Deputy Chief Shen Qinmin said Addis Ababa is a diplomatic hub where various international, continental and regional organizations are situated, and added that ENA ‘should take this advantage and promote the image of not only Ethiopia but also Africa.’
‘I think ENA can play a great role in promoting Ethiopia in particular and also to act as the face of Africa in general. Why? Here in Addis Ababa this is the political capital of Africa and the AU is here, so you can take this advantage and promote the image of not only Ethiopia but also Africa act as the face of Africa,’ he emphasized.
Media cooperation one among the many excellent cooperation areas that Ethiopia and China enjoy, the Deputy Chief stated, and added that this is because it plays paramount role to bring the people of the t
wo countries closer.
‘China always stands ready to have a better and more support for your agency (ENA) and Ethiopia in general,’ Deputy Chief Qinmin underscored.
Nothing that China and Ethiopia have upgraded their bilateral relationship to All-weather Strategic Partnership, he added that China has deeper understanding about the importance of Ethiopia and ENA can play important role in strengthening the people-to-people ties.
Founded in 1942 as a national wire news center, ENA has been distributing news and news related stories, documentaries, and television programs through its 38 branch offices nationwide.
The agency disseminates its media products in eight local and international languages including Amharic, Afan Oromo, Tigrigna, Somali, Afar, English, Arabic, and French.
