Addis Ababa: Embassies representing various countries in Ethiopia, including China, Cuba, Germany, Israel, Russia, Sri Lanka, USA, and UK, have extended congratulatory messages to the Ethiopian people in celebration of the 129th anniversary of the Victory of Adwa.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the embassies posted their messages on X. The Chinese Embassy expressed that the spirit of the Adwa Victory has been a symbol of courage, unity, and perseverance for 129 years, shared by both China and Ethiopia on their paths to modernization. The Cuban Embassy emphasized the importance of remembering the victory as a symbol against colonialism and as an African symbol of victory.
The German Embassy conveyed their wishes for a happy 129th Adwa Victory Day to all Ethiopians. Similarly, the Embassy of Israel highlighted the historic triumph as a powerful symbol of resilience, unity, and national pride, inspiring generations in Ethiopia and beyond.
The Embassy of Russia wished prosperity and success to all Ethiopians on the anniversary. The Embassy of Sri Lanka extended greetings to Ethiopians worldwide, acknowledging the victory as a moment of national pride.
The U.S. Embassy joined in celebrating the historic Victory of Adwa, commemorating Ethiopia’s triumph over colonial forces at the Battle of Adwa in 1896, which has remained a defining moment of resilience, unity, and national pride.
The Ethiopian forces defeated the Italian army on March 2, 1896, in the Battle of Adwa, which took place in the town of Adwa, located in the Tigray region of Ethiopia.
