ENDF Gears Up Preparations to Colorfully Celebrate 129th Adwa Victory Day


Addis Ababa: The Ethiopian National Defense Force (ENDF) has announced that the 129th Adwa Victory Day will be commemorated colorfully across the country under the theme ‘Adwa, Victory of the Black People.’

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Major General Endalkachew Woldekidan, Director General of Defense Moral Building at ENDF, stated in a press briefing that this significant event will be marked nationwide on March 2, 2025. The major general emphasized that the ENDF is working in collaboration with key stakeholders for a successful celebration of the historic Adwa Victory.

One hundred and twenty-nine years ago, Ethiopians from all corners of the land united in response to resist colonial domination, marking a pivotal moment in Black history. In March 1896, Ethiopians stunned the whole world by decisively defeating the well-armed Italian invading force at the Battle of Adwa.

Accordingly, Major General Endalkachew stated that this year’s event will take place at the Adwa Victory Memorial in the presence
of government officials, community leaders, ambassadors of various countries, and other invited guests. He further elaborated that various events will be held nationwide, including military parades and marching bands to spread the spirit of Adwa and foster national pride and unity.

Major General Endalkachew stated that the Adwa Victory Day commemoration serves to honor a significant historical event and foster a sense of collective memory among Ethiopians. He further emphasized that community engagement in the festivities reinforces the shared heritage of the Adwa victory.

The celebration would also promote unity and diversity among the Ethiopian people. According to the major general, Endalkachew also highlighted the importance of Adwa commemoration to foster a sense of belonging among all Ethiopians and solidify Adwa’s significance in the national narrative. frican descent in general, reminding them of their strength and resilience.
