Ethiopia Promoting Shared Responsibility, Fostering Regional Cooperation: Spokesperson


Addis Ababa: Ethiopia is actively fulfilling its leadership role in promoting shared prosperity and fostering regional cooperation, Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Ambassador Nebiat Getachew said. Ethiopia’s foreign policy is firmly rooted in advancing national interest, prioritizing cooperation, shared prosperity, peace, and stability in the Horn of Africa and neighboring countries, he added.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the nation is actively engaged in strengthening regional ties and promoting shared growth with its neighbors. Furthermore, Ethiopia champions the principle of shared prosperity as a cornerstone for the unity and prosperity of the African continent.



Accordingly, the country is pursuing diplomacy that strengthens its bilateral and multilateral cooperation with each member country of the bloc, the spokesperson elaborated. He stressed that the nation’s foreign policy remains steadfastly committed to serving the interests and well-being of its people.



Meanwhile, Ambassador Nebiat said extensive preparations have been made for the 38th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Assembly of Heads of State and Government scheduled to convene in Addis Ababa from February 15-16, 2025. Ethiopia is making preparations for the summit by prioritizing the fulfillment of its responsibilities as the host nation and diligently addressing the agenda items it will present as a member state.



The 38th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government will be held in Addis Ababa under the theme: “Building a United Front to Advance the Cause of Justice and the Payment of Reparations to Africans.” This summit will precede the 46th Ordinary Session of the Executive Council (Ministers of Foreign Affairs) scheduled for February 12-13, 2025, it was learned.
