Nairobi: A high-level Ethiopian delegation led by State Minister of Urban and Infrastructure, Fenta Dejen, participated in the 1st Session of the UN-Habitat Executive Board Meeting in Nairobi, Kenya. The meeting provided a platform for the delegation to share Ethiopia’s urban development milestones with an international audience.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, UN-Habitat presented a comprehensive report detailing its normative and operational activities in Ethiopia and Central America. During this presentation, UN-Habitat commended Ethiopia for its development initiatives. The State Minister emphasized the alignment of Ethiopia’s ongoing projects with the national urban development policy and the 10-Year Development Plan, which have been supported by UN-Habitat.
The State Minister called for increased support from UN-Habitat to enhance initiatives aimed at improving urban livelihoods and infrastructure. He also underscored the importance of UN-Habitat’s Draft Strategic Plan for 2026-2029, which addresses global housing challenges, and reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to building resilient urban housing.
