Ethiopian and Iranian Institutes Forge New Partnership to Enhance Diplomatic and Academic Relations


Addis Ababa: Ethiopia’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (IFA) and the Iranian Foreign Institute Academy have reached an agreement to collaborate on diplomatic and academic initiatives. Ambassador Ali Akbar Rezaei, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Ethiopia, met with Jafar Bedru, Executive Director of the IFA, at the Institute.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, during the meeting, the IFA and the Tehran Foreign Institute Academy discussed organizing joint conferences, collaborative research, and further strengthening bilateral relations. They agreed to host conferences for policymakers, academics, and experts from both countries.



The planned conferences will address global and regional challenges, including peace, security, economic development, and cultural diplomacy. Additionally, the IFA and Iranian academic institutions will collaborate on research in areas of mutual interest, such as regional geopolitics, trade, and historical ties.



Ambassador Ali Akbar Rezaei emphasized the 75-year diplomatic history between Iran and Ethiopia, stating, “This meeting reflects our commitment to strengthening these ties through joint conferences and research, fostering knowledge exchange and mutual growth.” The Executive Director added, “Our shared history and goals create a solid foundation for a partnership that will benefit both nations and contribute to regional stability.”
