Addis Ababa: The Eastern Africa Standby Force (EASF) has given confirmation to the Ethiopian Motorized Battalion as it is currently in unwavering position in terms of military personnel and weapons.
A delegation from the Eastern Africa Standby Force office in Nairobi, Kenya, is currently in Ethiopia to oversee the preparedness of Ethiopia’s motorized battalion that would be contributed to the force.
They conducted a pre-deployment verification and assessment forum in Bishoftu town in the Oromia region on Monday.
A readiness verification delegation led by Brigadier General Paul Kahuria Njema, Director of the Eastern Africa Standby Force, has today toured the motorized battalion base that Ethiopia has set up for the Eastern Africa Standby Force.
On the occasion, the director confirmed that the force prepared by Ethiopia is fully equipped with weapons and personnel, and is ready for duty, according to established standards.
He also emphasized that Ethiopia’s readiness underscores its commitment to peace
and security in the region.
Additionally, the director noted that the readiness assessment team will visit other member countries to make observations and highlighted Ethiopia’s symbolic experience in this regard.
Brigadier General Getachew Ali, the Commander of the Eastern Africa Standby Force, said that the evaluation criteria of the team are in line with international and African Union standards.
In this regard, the team has confirmed that Ethiopia has prepared and organized forces based on practical inspection and readiness assessment criteria.
The Brigadier General highlighted Ethiopia’s extensive experience in maintaining peace and security in the region, emphasizing that its current preparations demonstrate a strengthened commitment to this cause.
