Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister Urges G-20 Nations to Invest in Green Energy


Johannesburg: Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister, Gedion Timothewos, has made a compelling call for G-20 member states to invest in Ethiopia, particularly in the realm of green energy. His appeal came during a speech delivered on the second day of the G-20 Foreign Ministers Forum held in Johannesburg, South Africa.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, Minister Gedion emphasized Ethiopia’s vast potential in renewable energy, highlighting the country’s resources in hydroelectric, solar, wind, and geothermal energy. He encouraged investors from G-20 nations to explore opportunities in these sectors. The Minister also noted the importance of global cooperation in addressing current global challenges, urging G-20 countries to collaborate in facing these issues.



At the conclusion of the Forum, participants from G-20 member states, along with invited countries and international organizations, reached a consensus on the importance of addressing global challenges to prevent further crises. On the sidelines of the event, Minister Gedion held bilateral meetings with counterparts from India, Russia, the European Commission, and the United Kingdom.



Ethiopia’s participation in the G-20 Foreign Ministers Forum was at the invitation of South Africa, marking the first time the G-20 Forum has been hosted on African soil.
