Addis Ababa: President Taye Atske Selassie, in the early hours of this morning, held discussions with the UN General Assembly (UNGA) President, Philemon Yang. During the occasion, the two sides discussed a number of issues concerning Ethiopia, Africa, and the United Nations.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, President Taye described the discussion as a very important and fruitful meeting with the UNGA President. He noted that the meeting emphasized the importance of enhancing African representation in the UN Security Council and other structures within this global body.
UN General Assembly President Phil©mon Yang also told Ethiopian News Agency that he had a very interesting discussion and examined a number of issues. He highlighted Ethiopia’s significance as a key nation in Africa, noting that it is among the countries that strongly believe in the Charter of the United Nations. Yang expressed optimism about the future relationship between the UN General Assembly and Ethiopia, stating that it is already strong and will continue to grow.
It was recalled that President Taye Atske Selassie had conferred yesterday with the UN Secretary-General. They stressed the need for accelerating cooperation in all aspects between the two sides.
