An eye screening exercise has been organised for Kadjebi District Assembly staff at Kadjebi in the Oti Region.
It was organised by an eye specialist from the St. Mary Theresa Hospital, Dodi-Papase.
Ms. Matilda Kanda, the Eye Specialist, said regular eye examination helped detect certain eye conditions such as glaucoma, cataract, and aged-related macular degeneration, which could lead to sight loss.
She said having one’s vision corrected could improve the quality of day-to-day life.
Ms Kanda reiterated the need for routine eye diagnosis as poor vision could be a risk for falls.
She said eye examination for children should be a matter of concern to parents to make sure that any visual problems such as squint, amblyopia or myopia are detected and treated early.
The beneficiaries were given lenses and drugs after an examination.
Mr. Stephen Akpalu, a beneficiary, commended the Eye Specialist for the exercise.
Some twenty staff of the Assembly benefitted from the exercise.
