Addis Ababa: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gedion Timothewos, engaged in discussions with Rosemary DiCarlo, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs, at his office. During the meeting, the Minister provided insights into both national and regional issues, emphasizing the progression of the national dialogue process and the public’s engagement and support for it.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Gedion expressed Ethiopia’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace in Sudan. He highlighted the significant improvement in relations between Ethiopia and Somalia, underscoring that regional challenges can only be addressed through dialogue. Rosemary DiCarlo confirmed the United Nations’ ongoing support for Ethiopia’s efforts in promoting peace both nationally and regionally.
In a subsequent meeting, Minister Gedion also conferred with Annette Weber, the European Union’s Special Representative for the Horn of Africa. The discussions focused on regional issues of mutual interest.
