Addis Ababa: State Minister of Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mesganu Arga today received Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, Giorgio Silli. Italy is recognized as a key partner by Ethiopia, and appreciation was expressed for Italy’s substantial involvement in development cooperation and infrastructure projects.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, Ambassador Mesganu highlighted the strong relationship that exists at the leadership level between Ethiopia and Italy. He emphasized that the visit of the Italian Undersecretary of State presents an opportunity to broaden the scope of cooperation and explore new directions for mutual benefit.
Mesganu also mentioned Italy’s Mattei Plan, which is expected to bolster the private sub-economy in Africa. He noted that this plan will not only support Ethiopia’s economic sectors but could also serve as a model for other regions.
Undersecretary of State Giorgio Silli affirmed that Ethiopia has become a significant
focus for the Italian Government. He stated Italy’s commitment to enhancing its comprehensive cooperation with Ethiopia. During their discussion, both parties agreed on the necessity to revisit the development cooperation agreement with a renewed perspective, aiming for greater collaboration.
