Ghana has bounced back from COVID-19 pandemic – Deputy Finance Minister


Dr Alex Ampaabeng, Deputy Minister for Finance has said the country has bounced back from the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said the country’s Gross Domestic Product and exchange rates had also shown significant improvement.

He said this at the Northern Regional Townhall Meeting held in Tamale on Tuesday, October 8, 2024.

The townhall meeting, organised by the Ministry of Information, saw Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the region including other agencies exhibiting their projects and activities.

Dr Ampaabeng said the country achieved a remarkable milestone, recording a 2.9 per cent growth in December 2023, first in the International Monetary Fund’s consultation history.

He said despite the upcoming elections, the Government had maintained fiscal discipline, emphasising that ‘This government is maintaining economic stability and not ready to blow the budget for the excuse of election.’

He said that with continued fiscal consolidation and debt restructuring, the country’s economic future look
ed promising.
