Hands of Gold Foundation donates to two SHSs in Accra

Accra: Hands of Gold Foundation, a Non-Government Organisation, has donated sanitary pads and other items to Labone Senior High School (SHS) and Accra Girls SHS

The items include 20 boxes of sanitary pads, 20 parks of toilet roll, 20 board markers, and 50 dusters for each school.

Mr Larry Botchway, a board member of the foundation, said the donation was to promote menstrual hygiene among the girls in the schools.

He was optimistic that the items would help the students to be empowered and focus on their education without absenting from school.

Mr Botchway said the schools were chosen because of vulnerable students who could not afford sanitary pads during menstruation.

The Foundation, he stressed, had the welfare of women, children, and the vulnerable in society as its focus of operations.

‘We seek to better communities by empowering them with basic skills acquisition and building the capacities of our target groups to empower them economically,’ he said.

The board member said the foundation was commit
ted to creating an environment that was safe, caring, and friendly and providing opportunities for beneficiaries to flourish.

Mrs Rejoice Akua Acolor, the Headmistress of Labone SHS, thanked the Foundation for the huge gesture and pledged that their support would not go unnoticed.

She said the sanitary pads would be distributed to the students immediately, calling on other institutions to come to their aid to enhance effective teaching and learning.
