HortiFlora International Trade Fair Opens in Addis Ababa


Addis Ababa: The International Floriculture and Horticulture Trade Fair has commenced at the Millennium Hall, highlighting the theme “Horticulture for Sustainable Ethiopia.” The three-day event was inaugurated by Minister of Agriculture Girma Amente, who emphasized the Ethiopian government’s actions to enhance the business environment.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, Minister Girma Amente highlighted the horticulture sector as a priority area that has shown progress over the past eight months. He urged stakeholders to build on the sector’s successes and stressed the importance of addressing challenges and fostering supply chain collaboration. The Ethiopian government is implementing reforms to provide a supportive environment for private sector operators, crucial for maximizing the sector’s potential.



The minister called for unified efforts among stakeholders to support local and international initiatives aimed at sustainability. He assured continued government efforts to improve the business climate through collaboration with associations, development partners, and stakeholders.



EHPEA Chairman Nega Mequanint also addressed the trade fair, describing it as a strategic platform rather than just an exhibition. He attributed the sector’s recent achievements to strategic engagement, policy support, industry collaboration, and the dedication of its members.
