House Appoints Human Rights Chief Commissioner


Addis Ababa: The House of People’s Representatives has appointed Berhanu Adelo as Chief Commissioner of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission today. Berhanu Adelo’s appointment marks a significant decision by the House in its efforts to strengthen the role of the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the newly appointed Chief Commissioner, Berhanu Adelo, brings with him extensive experience from his previous roles in government. He has served as Director General of the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Office and has also held the position of Minister in Charge of Cabinet Affairs.



The appointment of Berhanu Adelo is seen as a strategic move to enhance the commission’s effectiveness in addressing human rights issues within the country. His diverse background in government roles is expected to contribute positively to the commission’s mission and objectives.
