IFAD Expresses Gratitude to Ethiopian Gov’t for its Recent Economic Reform Policy


Addis Ababa: Minister of Irrigation and Lowlands, Abraham Belay discussed with the Associate Vice President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), Donal Brown along with senior delegates from IFAD.

The discussion focused on ongoing projects and completion Lowlands Livelihood Resilience Project I.

On the occasion, the Associate Vice President emphasized the significance of this partnership as the largest in Africa and one of IFAD’s most effective collaborations.

He expressed gratitude to the Ethiopian government for its transformative and recent Economic Reform Policy and expressed optimism about increasing resource allocations to support ongoing and future initiatives, including the ministry’s groundbreaking Climate-Resilient Irrigation for Sustainable Production (CRISP) and Small-Scale Irrigation projects.

r driving agricultural transformation.

Both parties noted the need to incentivize private sector investments in irrigation that align with these initiatives, according to information obtained from the ministry.
