All 52 Assembly members of the Kadjebi District have undergone a capacity building to sharpen their skills and understanding of the country’s local governance and administration systems.
The training workshop was organised by the Network of Communities In Development (NOCID), a Kadjebi-based non-profit organisation, in partnership with ActionAid Ghana, and the Kadjebi District Assembly.
Speaking at the programme at the Kadjebi District Assembly Hall, Madam Agnes Afua Obour, Co-ordinator, NOCID, called on the Assembly members to put knowledge acquired into practice.
She urged them to work hand-in-hand with their Unit Committee members for total development of their electoral areas.
Mr. Anthony Ankutse, the Head of the Administration Unit, Kadjebi District Assembly, said the state and non-state actors within the Assembly system must work together for the benefit of the electorates in the district.
He charged the newly-sworn-in Assembly members to help generate enough internally generated fund for the devel
opment of the District.
Mr. Rashad Shaibu, District Director, Department of Food and Agriculture, said initiative like ‘Planting and Rearing for Food and Jobs’ was driving agriculture growth within the Kadjebi district and urged the Assembly members to lead the crusade to create awareness.
He said it was a collective responsibility with the citizenry in promoting the development of the agriculture sector.
The District Planning Officer and the District Budget Analyst also took participants through presentations on the work of their Units.
Mr. Alex Agbesi Boateng, the Assemblyman for Akum Electoral Area, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, commended the benefactors for the workshop; adding that the knowledge he gained would help him work efficiently and effectively.
