Mining Sector Gains Momentum, Luring Investors.


Addis Ababa: Ethiopia’s Ministry of Mines emphasized the growing interest of the private sector and foreign investors in the mining sector. The third Mining and Technology Expo (MINTEX) officially concluded at a dinner reception last night by giving recognitions to participants and stakeholders who showcased their products at the Expo.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Minister of Mines Habtamu Tegegn highlighted the expo’s pivotal role in promoting Ethiopia’s rich mining potential to both domestic and international investors. The event provided a platform for local and international companies to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore collaborative opportunities. The minister added that the mining sector is luring the private sector and foreign investors.

He emphasized the growing interest of the private sector and foreign investors in the mining sector. Companies actively engaged in exploration activities are demonstrating significant progress, and the sector is being strategically organized to m
aximize its contribution to the national economy. The government remains committed to enhancing the sector’s performance sustainably, he stressed, urging for collaborative efforts among all stakeholders to drive Ethiopia’s overall development.

Sean Wacsh, CEO of Tundra X, expressed satisfaction with the expo, stating that it allowed the company to showcase its products and identify potential investment opportunities in mineral extraction. He further emphasized the value of the platform in fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the industry.

Tewodros Sebsbie, owner of Abysinia Gemstones, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the expo’s role in facilitating market linkages and strengthening business relationships.
