Cairo, The Minister of Health and Community Welfare of the Federal Government of Somalia, Dr. Ali Haji Adan, attended the opening of the 69th session of the World Health Organization (WHO/EMRO) in Cairo, Egypt.
The meeting was attended by the head of the WHO, Dr Tedros, Ministers of Health of the Governments of EMRO, and experts in health matters, which discussed the strengthening of the health system and the distribution of Covid-19 vaccines.
The Minister of Health reported on the health plan of the Ministry and the challenges ahead, and to take important measures for the development of Health and to respond to the health needs in Somalia.
The minister asked the WHO to help Somalia build a quality health system that can provide opportunities for millions of people who have health needs in different ways and can also be part of the health development goal set by the Ministry of Health.
The Minister also discussed impact of the drought on the Somali people and he noted that many parts of Somalia have been severely affected by the drought and he asked the WHO to take part in providing assistance to the people who have inherited the health and livelihood effects of the drought.
