Ministry Hails Peace Deal Between Oromia Regional Gov’t, OLA Senior Leader as Critical Step.


Addis Ababa: The peace agreement reached between the Oromia Regional government and a senior leader of the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) marks an essential step towards ensuring durable peace in Ethiopia, as emphasized by the Ministry of Peace.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, Jaal Senay Negasa, a senior leader of the Oromo Liberation Army, has responded to the government’s calls for a peaceful resolution of differences and has signed the peace agreement with the Oromia Regional Government in Addis Ababa. The accord was signed between the President of the Oromia Regional Government, Shimelis Abdisa, and Jaal Senay Negasa.

The Ministry of Peace described the peace agreement as truly laudable in a statement posted on its social media pages, underscoring that the process itself has proven that peace is the only path. The regional government of Oromia has consistently called on the Oromo Liberation Army (OLA) to end any confrontation and disagreement through peaceful means.
