Asidowui: The Kpogede Gate of the Tsiala Clan in the Agave Traditional Area has officially introduced Torgbe Kporti III as the new chief and Mama Aborku II as the queenmother in a vibrant ceremony. The event took place at Asidowui, located in the South Tongu district of the Volta Region, and was attended by a wide array of traditional rulers, clan members, and citizens. It also marked the coronation of Agbotadua Samuel Soli and two linguists who will serve the new Chief and Queenmother.
According to Ghana News Agency, the ceremony highlighted the rich cultural heritage of the Agave State, featuring performances by the Wuga Troupe from Agorkpo. In his address, Torgbe Kporti III expressed his dedication to fostering peace and unity in the area. He emphasized that his leadership would focus on creating an environment conducive to development, peace, and unity, while upholding the legacy of their forefathers.
Torgbe Kporti III pointed out that peace is crucial for the area’s development, as disputes have previo
usly hindered progress. He assured his full support towards resolving all conflicts within the Agave State and beyond, aiming to restore peace to communities affected by chieftaincy and other disputes.
Mamaga Nyagadze III, the Paramount Queenmother of the traditional area, echoed the importance of unity and peace. She stressed the need for the chiefs and people of the Agave State to come together, resolve their differences, and work towards a common benefit for current and future generations.
The inauguration of the Agave Traditional Council, to be chaired by the Paramount Chief, is anticipated to address chieftaincy disputes and promote peace. Awafia Sekpete III, Chief of Ashiagborkope Gonu, presented Torgbe Kporti III and his linguist, while Mamaga Nyagadze III introduced Mama Aborku II and her linguist.
Mr. Hayford Klutse, a retired educationist, commended the event and called for community support for the new chief. He described this as a significant moment for the community and encouraged everyone to
rally behind Torgbe Kporti III to achieve peace, unity, and development.
Torgbe Talifo II, Chief of Agbeve and Head of the Yelu Keteni Gate of the Tsiala Clan, expressed gratitude for the honor bestowed upon their family, clan, Asidowui Township, and the Agave State. He expressed optimism that Torgbe Kporti III would adopt an open-door policy and promote development initiatives, peace, and unity throughout the traditional area.
