Murang’a: Various government departments in the Kiharu Division of Murang’a County are set to occupy a new office block constructed by the local National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF). The one-storey building is designed to host the Kiharu Assistant County Commissioner, Chief of Mjini location, and area Assistant Chief, among other government officers.
According to Kenya News Agency, the new modern building located in the Mjini area of Murang’a town will also accommodate offices for social development services, the registrar of persons, civil registration, and the lands board, among others. Kiharu Member of Parliament, Ndindi Nyoro, emphasized that the new offices will provide an adequate environment for several government departments to serve the residents more efficiently.
The officers who will be relocated to the new building have been operating out of small offices shared with other government departments. Nyoro highlighted that the construction of this building by the local NG-CDF aims to ensure that residents can access various services under one roof, improving service delivery.
Additionally, Nyoro mentioned that a similar building is under construction in Kahuro, which will also host the Assistant County Commissioner, chiefs, and their assistants. He reiterated his commitment to continue implementing development projects in his constituency, particularly in education. Nyoro shared that efforts are underway to enhance educational facilities by installing tiles in all 112 public primary schools, renovating classrooms, and installing cabros in school compounds.
Nyoro assured that he will remain focused on development projects and will not engage in political activities that could hinder progress in his constituency. He expressed his intention to work collaboratively with those who succeeded him after he was ousted as Chair of the Parliamentary Committee for Budget and Appropriation.
Local leaders have welcomed the new offices, acknowledging that the building has transformed the appearance of the Mjini informal settlement. Murang’a Township Member of County Assembly, Charles Machigo, noted that in addition to bringing services closer to the people, the new office block will enhance security in the area.
Community leader Lawrence Mutuota expressed support for the MP, emphasizing that despite changes in his parliamentary role, Nyoro will continue to serve the local community effectively.
