Nigeria@64: Group shares T-Shirts, caps to Kogi residents

A youth group on Tuesday organised a ‘2024 Independence Day Peace and Unity Walk’ in Lokoja during which it shared T-shirts and Face Caps to residents, to mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the youths resorted to sharing the items after they were discouraged from marching through the streets of the Kogi capital to drum up support for the President Bola Tinubu administration.

Mr Shehu Atta, Senior Special Adviser to Gov. Usman Ododo on Youth Affairs, described the group’s outing as a ‘huge success’.

Atta said that the group Coordinator, Mr Kazeem Isah, had led the distribution of the items, moving from one street to the other.

According to him, the activity was organised to drum up support for Tinubu’s commitment to revamping the nation’s ailling economy.

‘We had intended to take a ‘peace and unity walk’ from Ganja Junction to Kogi Government House, but there were fears that hoodlums could hijack the process, so we decided to shelve it.

‘Instead
of doing that, we decided to distribute T-shirts and Face Caps to residents as we moved from streets to streets, so as to touch lives.

‘This is our way of celebrating this year’s independence anniversary in Lokoja.

‘As youths, we plead total support to the policies and programmes of Tinubu’s administration. We want everyone in Nigeria to do same,’ Atta said.
