Oti Region: Voting underway at PNC presidential primaries

Voting is underway for the People’s National Convention (PNC) to elect its presidential candidate for the 2024 presidential elections.

Over 140 delegates from the Oti Region are expected to pick between the former National Chairman, Mr Bernard Mornah and Mr David Apesara, the incumbent chairman.

The agents of the various presidential aspirants are present at the voting centre to observe proceedings.

Mr Evans Dzreke, the outgoing regional chair, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the party would elect both constituency executives, regional executives, national executive, and flagbearer today, adding that there would be no voting for constituency and regional executives’ portfolios but rather by popular acclamation.

Other portfolios include National Chairperson, General Secretary, National Youth Organizer, National Organizer and National Women Organizer, respectively.

The campaign in the run-up to today’s voting in the Krachi East constituency has been acrimonious.

Political watchers said it would be a
miracle for the current PNC chairman to win against Mr Mornah.

There is heavy police presence at the centre with officers positioned at vantage points to maintain law and order.
