PM Abiy Ahmed Unveils Africa’s Largest Convention Center in Addis Ababa


Addis Ababa: Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed inaugurated the Addis International Convention Center (AICC) tonight, marking it as the largest conference center in Ethiopia, poised to host both national and international events.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, the newly constructed convention center exemplifies Africa’s potential, showcasing the innovative spirit and contributions of its people, as highlighted by the Prime Minister. “The Addis International Convention Center we are inaugurating today is a testament that Ethiopia is a country that can be a model for delivering its promise through successful execution of projects,” he emphasized.



The Prime Minister urged the Ethiopian populace to maintain their support in the pursuit of a prosperous nation. He noted significant progress following the vigorous launch of the Addis Ababa corridor development projects, which have substantially elevated Ethiopia’s standing on the global stage.



He stated that the new Addis International Convention Center will create opportunities to host both local and global business conventions and serve as a strategic venue for international diplomacy. PM Abiy also mentioned that the center will host conferences and trade fairs that connect Africa, including the upcoming international Artificial Intelligence (AI) conference and exhibition.



Spanning 40 hectares of prime land, the center is designed to host a wide array of events, enhancing Ethiopia’s hospitality and tourism sectors. It includes two large halls, each capable of accommodating 3,000 to 4,000 attendees, along with eight small and medium meeting halls, collectively accommodating up to 10,000 people.
