President Hassan Sheikh holds a meeting on regional stability and coordination of humanitarian aid issues

Washington DC, The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, attended the Africa-US Cooperation Summit, he held a meeting on regional stability and coordination of humanitarian aid issues with the country’s Secretaries of Defense and Foreign Affairs of the United States.

The meeting was attended by the Presidents of Djibouti, H.E Ismail Omar Guelleh and Niger, H.E Mohamed Bazoum of Niger. The heads of States emphasised on the issues of insurgency and the problems they cause in the whole African continent. The victories of the Somali National Army in the Middle Shabelle and Hiran regions was mentioned.

The President presented the severe problem that the drought has caused to the lives of the Somali people and how climate change is a major part of it, and he praised the plans to cooperation and deal in this matter, with the Somali government giving special priority to the care of the environment and climate change adaptation.

Also, the leaders jointly strengthened the plans to analyze the African-American Cooperation Forum, especially to support the governments of Somalia in its development vision and the forward steps it is taking based on good neighborliness, cooperation, economic, security and political integration.
