Washington DC, The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who attended the Africa-US Cooperation Summit, held a meeting with the United State’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Mrs. Linda Greenfield.
The President shared with Ambassador Linda the successes achieved in the war against Al-Shabaab terrorists, and pointed out the impact of the arms embargo on Somalia, saying that the Somali forces selflessly liberated the Middle Shabelle and Hiraan regions.
President Hassan Sheikh mentioned the brave role and support of the Armed Forces shown by the communities of the liberated areas, and how they stood on the difficult living conditions in the districts and areas where the terrorists were removed, who destroyed the infrastructure of life and public services that existed in those areas.
The President asked the United States diplomats to vote in the Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly to strengthen the plans for rebuilding the Somali army, lifting the arms embargo, preventing climate change and rebuilding the areas liberated from Al-Shabaab.
