Addis Ababa: The president of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa and President of Angola João Lourenço have arrived in Addis Ababa for the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
Upon their arrival at the Bole International Airport, the Presidents were warmly welcomed by high level Ethiopian government officials.
Numerous Heads of State and Government of the AU, leaders from other parts of the world, and heads of UN and other international organizations are arriving in Addis Ababa to take part in the 37th summit of the union which will be held on the coming Saturday and Sunday.
In 2024, the African Union is set to pay special attention to education and training with the theme of the year focusing on educating an Africa fit for the 21st century: building resilient education systems for increased access to inclusive, qualitative, lifelong and relevant learning for Africa.
The summit will also look into how the continent can maintain momentum in addre
ssing issues of peace and security, regional integration, and development.
