The Ministry of Health and Human Services of the Federal Republic of Somalia in reference to the press release issued by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uganda on 20th September 2022 which declared the discovery of EBOLA Virus Disease (EVD) in the country. The information below will highlight the need for new protocols in order to prevent and ensure safety of the Somali people.
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, and the national agencies who are responsible for border protection and social interaction will take measures to prevent the disease to spread to the country due to the new case that has been found in Uganda, where many Somalis live and travel to Mogadishu as well as other parts of the country.
The Ministry of Health will be using health experts within the country in close coordination with the World Health Organization to start all necessary preparedness and response of the EBOLA including screening all travelers from Uganda.
