Ten pupils from Atwima Takyiman Presby JHS undertake exchange programme in Germany

Ten pupils selected from the Atwima Takyiman Presbyterian Junior High School (JHS) in the Atwima Kwanwoma District are undertaking a two-week educational exchange programme in Murnau, Germany.

The pupils, made up of seven girls and three boys are accompanied by three teachers, and would undertake the educational tour at the Christoph-Probst Mettleschule (middle school) im Blauen Land and the Realschule im Blauen Land (Secondary school).

The programme is one of the objectives of the partnership between Murnau, a city in Bavaria, Germany and Atwima in Ghana.

The partnership agreement was signed between Nana Antwi Agyei Brempong II, Atwimahene and Mr Rolf Beuting, the Mayor of Murnau city over a year, ago and was established through the instrumentality of Madam Torita Wolfart, Development Queen of Atwima, to help exchange cultures, customs, traditions, ideas and ensure rapid development of the two cities.

Nana Agyei Brempong told Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview that, the educational tour was a good o
pportunity for the pupils to learn new things from their counterparts in Murnau.

‘They have been groomed to exhibit good behaviour and impart our rich culture to their friends in Murnau,’ he stated.

According to the Chief, some students from Murnau last year visited the Atwima Presbyterian JHS and studied with the pupils for a week.

This exchange programme and others which were yet to be unveiled, would deepen the partnership between the two cities.

Mr. Seneya Milton, Head-teacher of Atwima Presbyterian JHS, said the exchange programme had projected the image of the school and would also boost the confidence of the pupils and expose them to many new ideas in the European classroom setting.

Ms Ursula Afriyie, one of the beneficiaries said it was the beginning of a future for her and called on other organisations and foreign countries to give such opportunities to the Ghanaian youth.
