An electrical pole, a property of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), was run into and destroyed by a tipper truck at Dawa in the Ningo-Prampram district.
The incident resulted in several customers’ electricity supply being cut off for a while.
Mr Michael Buabin, Tema ECG Regional Engineer, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the damaged pole was part of the company’s new network constructed to support supply to Dawa, Ada, and surrounding areas.
Mr Buabin stated that the affected areas had been isolated, and all customers have had their supply restored.
He said the tubular-type pole got bent, assuring that ECG was working on replacing it as soon as possible, revealing that the repair will cost the company GHs22,000 to replace.
He stated that even though they were unsure of what exactly happened for the driver to veer off the road to cause such damage, they however want to caution drivers to always exercise safety on the roads and to be careful when driving to avert such incidents.
