LONDON: The United Kingdom has expressed its support for the recent agreement reached between Ethiopia and Somalia, which was finalized in Ankara on December 11, 2024. This agreement emphasizes the two nations’ commitment to each other’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, marking a significant step towards enhanced cooperation in the Horn of Africa.
According to Ethiopian News Agency, the UK released a statement affirming its support for initiatives that promote stability, development, and shared prosperity in the region. The UK also acknowledged the pivotal role of Turkey’s mediation efforts and the constructive participation from all involved parties that led to the successful agreement.
As a long-standing partner in the Horn of Africa, the UK has pledged to continue its collaboration with Ethiopia and Somalia, including Somaliland, to achieve the objectives outlined in the agreement.
