Wenchi Municipal IPDC inaugurated

Mr Peter Kwabena Gyasi, the Deputy Bono Regional Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has inaugurated the Wenchi Municipal Inter-Party Dialogue Committee (IPDC) in the Bono Region.

Members comprise representatives of religious bodies, traditional authorities, political parties, security agencies, persons with disability, women and the youth groups.

Mr Gyasi tasked the committee to remain proactive in helping to tackle electoral concerns that might be raised by the various political parties in the municipality, as the Election 2024 gathered momentum.

That would promote tolerance, and prevent potential conflicts before, during and after the December 7, Presidential and Parliamentary polls.

In an interview with the media on the side-lines of the inauguration held at Wenchi, Mr Gyasi emphasised the relevance of an incident-free election that would strengthen social cohesion and facilitate socio-economic development and consolidate the gains of the nation’s fledgling democracy.

He
said the Committee provided a common platform for all election stakeholders to diffuse unnecessary tensions and resolve conflicts that could mar the beauty of the General Election.

Mr Gyasi asked the committee to help address issues of misinformation and disinformation that could potentially create tensions.

He advised everybody to remain vigilant and help identify and dismantle violent extremist groups who might capitalise on the elections, infiltrate the country and cause trouble.

The Reverend Dr Dan Lassey, Chairman of the IPDC, pledged the commitment of the committee to working hard to ensure that the elections were conducted peacefully.
