“Yeshi Gabcha” Plans to Conduct Mass Wedding by Including Brides from Other African Countries


Addis Ababa: The “Yeshi Gabcha”, translates as “Thousand Weddings,” is planning to conduct mass wedding in the upcoming 2017 Ethiopian New year by including brides from other African nations.

The “Yeshi Gabcha” program is gaining remarkable traction in Ethiopia, bringing together thousands of brides from diverse cultures and tribes in a single grand celebration.

This vibrant event not only highlights the richness of Ethiopian heritage but also fosters unity among different communities.

The Ministry of Culture and Sports has highlighted the vital role of “Yeshi Gabcha” in preserving and promoting the nation’s cultural values across generations.

The role of the “Yeshi Gabcha” tradition is crucial in passing down and promoting the country’s cultural values from generation to generation.

In a significant move, the Ministry has signed a memorandum of understanding with Yamet Event, the organizer of this unique program today.

Speaking on the signing ceremony, Minister of Culture and Sports, Shewit Shenka, emp
hasized that this partnership will enhance the cultural fabric of the nation. “Yeshi Gabcha” provides a platform for couples to celebrate their weddings collectively, showcasing Ethiopia’s diverse local cultures and values to a broader audience.

The minister further noted that the program not only aids in cultural transmission but also offers substantial economic benefits. She called for collaboration and support from all sectors to ensure its success.

The founder of Yamet Event and the visionary behind “Yeshi Gabcha,” Asnake Amanuel explained that the initiative aims to promote Ethiopian culture, boost the local garment industry, and help couples minimize wedding costs.

For the upcoming 2017 Ethiopian New year “Yeshi Gabcha” event, plans to include not just a thousand couples from across Ethiopia, but also brides from other African nations, allowing them to showcase their unique cultural traditions.
